The Magnetic Optical Pickup is an IR optical sensor for solid-state meters with metallic ports. A very handy probe when most or all meters to be verified have this type of optical port.
Its design using edge triggering sensing technology prevents false detection in any ambient light condition.
In addition, the magnetic head displays a red LED light that flashes when meter pulses are detected. It uses a strong magnetic material to ensure a solid grip over the optical port.
